Lok Sabha Elections 2024: What If BJP Doesn’t Win 272 Seats? | Amit Shah’s Response

In response to a media query about the possibility of the BJP not reaching the halfway mark in the Lok Sabha, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Friday that he does not foresee such an outcome and asserted that the BJP does not require a Plan B. When questioned about the BJP’s strategy if it secures fewer than 272 seats, Shah replied, “I don’t see any such possibilities. An army of 60 crore-strong beneficiaries are standing with PM Modi, they have no caste or age group…Those who have received all these benefits know Narendra Modi kya hain aur kyun 400 dena chahiye.”

During an interview with ANI, Shah was asked about the BJP’s backup plan in the event of not achieving a majority. He confidently responded, “Plan B needs to be made only when there is less than a 60% chance for Plan A (to succeed). I am certain that PM Modi will come to power with a thumping majority.” Shah also highlighted PM Modi’s strong support for SC, ST, and OBC reservations.

Addressing the BJP’s accusation that the Congress is attempting to create a ‘North-South divide,’ Shah predicted that the BJP would become the single largest party in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka combined. He said, “If someone says that this is a separate country, it is very objectionable…This country can never be divided now. A tall leader of Congress party spoke about dividing north and south India and the Congress party doesn’t even deny it or separate itself from the statement. People of the country should think about the agenda of the Congress party…Combining the 5 states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka, BJP is going to emerge as the single largest party in these elections.”

Shah emphasized that over 400 seats are necessary to ensure political stability in the country. He mentioned that although the BJP had the mandate to amend the Constitution, they chose not to. He elaborated that with 400 seats in the Lok Sabha, the BJP aims to secure the borders, elevate India to the third-largest economy globally, and ensure the welfare of the poor.

While the Congress claims that the BJP seeks to amend the Constitution by winning more than 400 seats, the BJP alleges that the Congress plans to strip SCs, STs, and OBCs of their reservation benefits to allocate them to the Muslim community.
