Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Elderly Voters in Simdega, Jharkhand Polls Greeted With Flower Shower

Elderly voters in Simdega, Jharkhand, experienced a heartwarming gesture as they arrived to vote during the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections. The Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand shared a video on social media capturing the touching moment when seniors were welcomed with a shower of flowers at a polling booth.

Despite challenges like using wheelchairs or walking sticks, these seniors were determined to exercise their democratic right. The Election Commission of India’s innovative home voting option for those above 85 years old and Persons with Disabilities with a 40% benchmark disability marked a significant step towards inclusivity in this election.

Meanwhile, political leaders like Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren also participated in the voting process, setting an example for citizens.

This phase of voting encompassed 96 constituencies across various states and a Union Territory, with simultaneous state assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The overall voter turnout indicated an active participation in this democratic exercise.

As the Lok Sabha elections progresses, previous phases have seen smooth and peaceful polling in a substantial number of constituencies, reflecting a healthy democratic process across the nation.
