On Sunday (March 24), workers of Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) vandalized a hotel in Mumbai’s Khar area where stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra had filmed his show. The protest erupted after a video of Kamra went viral on social media, in which he seemingly referred to Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as a ‘traitor’ without mentioning his name.
Shiv Sena Workers Storm Comedy Club
A viral video showed Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) workers storming the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar and vandalizing the premises. According to officials, the protestors also targeted Hotel Unicontinental, where the show was filmed, and demanded Kamra’s immediate arrest.

Complaint Filed Against Kamra
Following the controversy, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Rahul Kanal lodged a complaint at the Khar Police Station. Kamra was accused of using derogatory language against the Deputy CM, allegedly hurting the sentiments of party workers.
Party Workers Take to the Streets
Soon after the video gained traction, Shiv Sena workers took to the streets, demanding strict action against Kamra. According to PTI, the party workers stormed the hotel auditorium after the clip mocking Shinde surfaced online.
Sanjay Raut Reacts, Shares Video
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut also reacted to the controversy by sharing the video on X (formerly Twitter) and captioned it, “Kunal ka Kamaal.”
Kamra’s Satire on Shinde Using a Bollywood Song
Kamra used a song from the Bollywood film Dil To Pagal Hai to mock Eknath Shinde, further fueling the outrage among Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leaders. Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske warned Kamra that party workers across the country would track him down. In a video message, Mhaske stated, “You will be forced to flee India.”
