Justice Yashwant Varma Slams ‘Baseless’ Cash Recovery Claims: ‘No Cash, No Truth!’ | WATCH

Delhi High Court Justice Yashwant Varma has formally responded to allegations regarding the purported recovery of cash from his residence, asserting that the location in question is a commonly accessible storeroom, separate from his main living quarters.

Justice Varma Denies Any Involvement

In his detailed response submitted to the Delhi High Court, Justice Varma clarified that the room where the alleged cash was found is disconnected from his residence and is accessible to multiple individuals, including staff members. He firmly denied that any cash was ever stored there by him or his family.

“This storeroom is generally used for keeping old furniture, crockery, mattresses, carpets, and garden tools. It is an open and accessible space, not a part of my personal living area,” he stated.

Fire Incident on Holi and Its Aftermath

Justice Varma also mentioned that a fire broke out in the storeroom near the staff quarters on Holi, March 14. Following the incident, household members were asked to vacate the area for safety reasons. He noted that after the fire was extinguished, no cash was found at the scene.

He emphasized the improbability of storing money in such an open and frequently accessed area, calling the accusations “highly incredible and incredulous.”

Appeal for Justice and Reputation Protection

Addressing the allegations, Justice Varma appealed to the Delhi High Court Chief Justice to clear his name, stressing the importance of a judge’s integrity.

“My reputation and character have been severely tarnished. These baseless allegations are built on mere assumptions and innuendos,” he stated.

Judicial Probe Ordered

In response to the controversy, Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna has constituted a three-member panel to investigate the allegations and determine the veracity of the claims. The inquiry aims to ensure transparency and uphold the credibility of the judiciary.
