Kashmir: The Jammu and Kashmir police have announced the attachment of a commercial complex worth over ₹2 crores in Bijbehara, linked to drug trafficking activities. The property, owned by the late Abdul Rashid Dar of Tulkhan Bijbehara, was allegedly acquired through the illicit trade of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
In an official statement, the police detailed, “The seized properties include a commercial building strategically located on NHW 44 at Semthan Bijbehara, spanning an area of 5 Kanal 12 Marla under Survey No. 291 Min.”
The case traces back to FIR No. 210/2020, filed under Section 8/15-29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Bijbehara Police Station. The late Abdul Rashid Dar was found to be involved in significant drug trafficking activities.
During an investigation in September 2020, authorities uncovered an underground storage room on Dar’s property. This room contained a large cache of contraband substances, primarily poppy straw (Fukki), stored in 126 gunny bags weighing 2600 kgs and 60 plastic barrels holding 1395 kgs. These substances were intended for illegal distribution among local youth, exacerbating drug addiction in the region.
The Anantnag Police’s decisive action in seizing the commercial complex highlights their commitment to combating drug trafficking. The police statement emphasized that such stringent measures send a clear warning to those involved in illegal drug activities: they will face severe consequences.
