New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue 2025 in New Delhi to explore ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and education.
Productive Dialogue on Strengthening Ties
After the meeting, Jaishankar highlighted the scope of advancing bilateral cooperation between India and Georgia.
“Nice to meet FM Maka Botchorishvili on the sidelines of #Raisina2025. Explored opportunities for advancing our political, trade, investment, tourism, and education cooperation,” he said.
In response, Botchorishvili appreciated the meeting and India’s hospitality, expressing her optimism about future collaboration.
“Great honour & privilege to meet Foreign Minister @DrSJaishankar during my first visit to India. Enjoyed a productive discussion focused on our cooperation with significant potential to expand bilateral ties across various fields,” she wrote.
Georgia’s Strategic Importance and Potential
During her visit, Maka Botchorishvili emphasized Georgia’s strategic location as a key transit hub between Europe and Asia and highlighted the country’s potential as a destination for Indian tourists and students. She reiterated the importance of maintaining a structured political dialogue to explore untapped potential in trade, logistics, and education.
“This is my first visit to India, and India is a very important partner for Georgia. We intend to expand our bilateral ties with India, both politically and economically,” Botchorishvili told ANI.
She underscored the opportunities for stronger ties, adding,
“We need to explore, and that’s why it is important to have a political dialogue… Economy, logistics, and education—there are plenty of other areas where we can work together.”
Commitment to Future Collaboration
Botchorishvili expressed confidence that India and Georgia’s collaborative efforts would yield positive results.
“I’m confident our common efforts will bring tangible results for both Georgia and India,” she said, expressing her gratitude for India’s hospitality.
Raisina Dialogue 2025: A Platform for Global Dialogue
The Raisina Dialogue, organized by India’s Ministry of External Affairs, serves as a platform for world leaders to discuss pressing global challenges and foster international cooperation. Botchorishvili acknowledged the importance of participating in the event.
