ISRO Makes History With Third Consecutive Success In RLV Landing Experiment

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has achieved a remarkable feat with its third consecutive successful Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) Landing Experiment (LEX). On June 23, 2024, ISRO’s experimental vehicle “Pushpak” executed a precise horizontal landing in Chitradurga, Karnataka, demonstrating advanced autonomous capabilities under challenging conditions.

The RLV-LEX3, conducted at 7:10 AM, marked the culmination of ISRO’s series of tests aimed at validating horizontal landing systems for reusable launch vehicles. This achievement underscores ISRO’s commitment to technological advancement and its aspirations to reduce the costs associated with space missions.

“With the successful conclusion of RLV LEX, ISRO is now gearing up for RLV-ORV, the orbital reusable vehicle,” announced ISRO in a statement following the landmark landing. The RLV-ORV initiative aims to further enhance India’s capabilities in space transportation, enabling more frequent and cost-effective access to space.
