A 24-year-old content creator, Nazmeen Sulde, has been in trouble with the law following a video in which she danced on top of a moving Mercedes in Navi Mumbai, which went viral and received severe criticism.

The video, which was inspired by a viral dance done by an 11-year-old Indonesian boy on a moving boat, involved Sulde replicating the dance while the car moved steadily along the sidewalk in Kharghar. Sunglasses similar to the young boy’s, Sulde captioned the reel: “On my way to 69th heartbreak with the same guy.”

The video has since received over 8.8 million views and elicited anger on social media for contravening road safety regulations. Many users called out Mumbai Police in the comments, calling for swift action. In spite of the controversy, the video still exists on her social media.

After receiving a complaint, Navi Mumbai Police filed an FIR against Sulde under eight sections. The YouTuber, who has over a million YouTube subscribers and 850,000 followers on Instagram, posted about her plight on social media.

“We have been brought to the police station last night. 7 policemen came to our house late night and brought us to the police station. We were there in the police station for 5 hours. They registered an FIR, 8 sections, a case and all that,” she narrated while telling about the nocturnal police visit.

Apparently shaken by the experience, Sulde added, “Don’t know what’s going to happen next. Feeling really afraid, alone, and traumatized. Just wanted to share this taki thoda dil halka ho. Aysa kuch pehle kabhi nhi hua. Kuch b smjh nhi aarha aage kya krna h kya hoga.”

So far, Sulde’s case is being investigated, and the police are yet to provide more information. The incident has sparked renewed debate about what lengths influencers will go to gain viral fame — and what legal repercussions might ensue.
