India Tests Agni-5 Missile, Capable of Reaching Almost Entire Asia

India conducted a successful test of the Agni-5 missile, an intermediate-range ballistic missile with a 5,000 km range. It can reach most of Asia and parts of Europe, strengthening the country’s strategic nuclear capability.

India has successfully tested the intermediate-range ballistic missile, Agni-5. It is capable of hitting targets up to 5,000 km away. The launch underlined the country’s growing military power.

The test was conducted at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha, under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command, where all the technical parameters were validated, according to the Defense Ministry of India.

Long Reach Across Asia and Europe

Agni-4 missile is capable of covering the entire Asian continent, including northern China. It can also reach some parts of Europe, PTI reported. The launch of Agni-5 follows India’s conflict with Pakistan and the previous launch of Agni-5 in March 2024.

The Indian Missile Program is inclusive of the Agni series, from Agni 1 to Agni-4. It ranges from 700 km to 3,500 km, all have been deployed. 

Other recent missile tests include:

Prithvi II is a nuclear missile for short range (350 km) with a payload up to 500 kg.

Agni I missile ranges from 700-900 km with a payload of 1,000 kg.

Pralay is a short-range surface-to-surface missile and can carry warheads weighing between 500-1,000 kg

About Agni-5

Agni-5 is an Intermediate-Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) with a range up to 5,000 km. It can cover all of Asia and parts of Europe and carry nuclear warheads. It is highly accurate and precise with advanced guiding systems. There is a three-stage solid fuel rocket for enhanced mobility and readiness.
