Himachal Pradesh Now Become Fifth Literate State of India With 100% Literacy

After Tripura, Goa, Mizoram and Ladakh now Himachal Pradesh became the fifth literate State/Union Territory in India, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Monday.

After Tripura, Goa, Mizoram and Ladakh now Himachal Pradesh became the fifth literate State/Union Territory in India, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Monday. Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh highlighted that this is one of the most adorable achievement for the nation is a result of combined efforts of the everyone from government to public.

A Vision For Literate India

Dharmendra Pradhan while speaking on a virtual event on September 8, International literacy Day 2025, He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of education as the foundation of civilization and called for renewed dedication to build a literate, self-reliant, and developed India by 2047.

“Promoting Literacy for new generation in this Digital Era,” which stresses how this digital technology aids reading, writing, numeracy, and lifelong learning nationwide this was the main theme to be focused this year.

ULLAS Nav Bharat: A Relief For Indian

He also addressed the ULLAS Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society), which has registered more than 3 crore learners and 42 lakh volunteers in platform. Almost 1.83 crore learners have passed basic literacy score and numeracy tests with a 90% success rate. The scheme now provides learning material in 26 Indian languages, making literacy more inclusive and hence effective.

Mr. Pradhan also implored how youth and students of India eagerly joined the literacy campaign, while proposed that such participation be sanctioned with academic credits.

Himachal Pradesh New Entry In 100% Literacy state

Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary welcomed Himachal Pradesh’s entry alongside Mizoram, Goa, Tripura, and Ladakh in becoming fully literate states of India. He also pointed out that these states with difficult geographies were the first to accomplish this position.

In the face of restricted access to schools, teachers, and materials, communities mobilized themselves, volunteers came forward, and government assistance guaranteed success. Such collective effort, he maintained, is worth applause and commendation.

The MoS also mentioned that India’s definition of literacy now includes digital literacy. He highlighted that India set a global example, especially for the Global South, by creating a robust Digital Public Infrastructure that has enhanced education and inclusion.
