Chamoli police in Uttarakhand have announced that the Yatra of Shri Hemkund Sahib, a Sikh shrine in Uttarakhand, has been temporarily halted due to the presence of snow on the Yatra route.
In a tweet, the police advised devotees to find safe locations to stop, as heavy rains were expected on Friday. They emphasized the importance of devotees’ safety and stated that the Yatra of Shri Hemkund Sahib would not take place on 26 May, 2023.
The police urged people to wait for further instructions and mentioned the Hemkunt Foundation in their tweet.
Additionally, the police reported that the trekking route from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib was completely covered with snow, which they attributed to recent heavy snowfall. They provided a visual update of the Hemkund Sahib Yatra route in a separate tweet.
