Heavy Rains Cause Flood-Like Conditions In Gujarat’s Navsari

Heavy rains have disrupted daily life in Navsari, Gujarat, leading to severe waterlogging. District Collector Kshipra S Agre inspected shelter homes for the rain-affected, saying, “110 people have been rescued and shifted to shelter houses here. The Municipal Corporation, Police, and Administration are working together and urging people to shift to shelter homes as a precaution.” She urged residents to cooperate with officials and assured them of proper care in the shelters.

Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel visited flood-affected areas in the Borsas region of Anand district, addressing concerns about water-borne diseases by deploying the Arogya team and doctors.

Heavy rains have severely impacted various districts in Gujarat, causing at least eight deaths, raising the toll to 61 as of July 24. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted an aerial survey of Saurashtra’s coastal villages, particularly Jamnagar and Devbhoomi Dwarka, to assess the damage. In a review meeting, he emphasized a zero-casualty approach for the district administration to ensure people’s safety during the rains. The downpour over the past five days has led to waterlogging in low-lying areas, significantly affecting normal life in the coastal districts of Saurashtra, including Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, and Porbandar.
