The flight from Guwahati to Kolkata had a rare situation during mid-air and had to return to Guwahati for emergency landing after a technical snag was detected.
The incident turned the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport into a scene of full emergency that raised doubts among the passengers and aviation staff alike.
Emergency Measures Activated
The officials stated that the flight GAU-CCU had taken off from Guwahati at 1:09 pm when the problem arose mid-journey. LGBI declared a full emergency at 1:42 pm and all precautionary measures were activated. Though the alarming situation was there, with fast action of the airport and airline staff, no passenger or crew member faced any serious danger.

An airport official stated that the flight landed safely back at LGBI at 2:27 PM. post-landing, the emergency was called off by 2:40 PM.
Passengers Assisted Safely
All passengers were deboarded in safety and assisted by terminal staff. The spokesperson said that airline arrangements for alternative onward travel were being coordinated to minimize inconvenience for passengers. “Passengers were safely deboarded and assisted by terminal staffers. While the airline coordinated alternative onward travel for the passengers, LGBIA’s terminal operations team remained on standby to provide all necessary support,” said the statement.

Officials reassured that emergency situation did not interrupt its regular flight operations at Guwahati Airport.
