Former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan Addresses Speculations Of Rift with BJP

Former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan addressed speculations of discord within the Tamil Nadu BJP on Thursday, following a viral video showing an animated discussion with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Tamilisai clarified that their conversation pertained to post-election concerns and strategic follow-up. She emphasized that Shah’s advice to intensify political and constituency work was supportive and aimed at addressing challenges effectively.

“This was my first meeting with Amit Shah after the 2024 elections. He inquired about the post-poll scenario and the challenges we faced. I was explaining the situation, and due to time constraints, he advised me with concern to focus intensively on political and constituency work,” Tamilisai stated, aiming to dispel any unfounded rumors.

Reports of internal rifts within the Tamil Nadu BJP had surfaced earlier, particularly following the party’s unsatisfactory performance in the recent Lok Sabha polls. Tamilisai, who resigned as governor in March, had contested unsuccessfully from Chennai South Parliamentary constituency. The interaction captured in the viral video occurred during the swearing-in ceremony of Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada, where Shah was seen engaged in conversation with Tamilisai while other dignitaries including former vice-president Venkaiah Naidu and Union ministers J P Nadda and Nitin Gadkari were present.
