The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that a delegation of 118 foreign diplomats, including Heads of Mission (HoM), spouses of HoMs, and officials from 77 countries, will visit the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Saturday.
Addressing a press briefing, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed the visit, stating, “Yes, diplomats will be visiting Kumbh tomorrow.”
Judicial Commission Investigates Stampede Tragedy
A three-member judicial commission has commenced its investigation into the tragic stampede on Mauni Amavasya, which resulted in 30 deaths and 60 injuries.
- The commission, led by Justice (Retd.) Harsh Kumar, began its work on Thursday in Lucknow.
- Justice Kumar assured that the probe is a priority, stating, “We have a month to complete the investigation, but we aim to finish it as soon as possible.”
- The commission will visit Prayagraj soon to conduct an on-ground assessment.
