The health department has created special hospital wards for dengue patients in response to the outbreak in Patna, the capital of Bihar. Dengue and viral fever cases are both rising steadily in the city.

District Program Manager of the district health committee, Dr Vivek Singh said, “In monsoon season dengue cases usually increase. A special ward has been set up in all medical universities and local hospitals for dengue patients in Patna. There is no need to panic. Usually, patients recover in 2-3 days after beginning the treatment.”

“A total of 366 people are suffering from dengue in Patna, 70 new cases of dengue have come yesterday. Cases of dengue usually occur in September, October and November. Complete preparations have been made by the department in view of the surge in dengue cases. 10 beds have been kept for the patients infected with dengue in Sadar Hospital”, he added.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Nodal Officer of the Dengue Ward at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), claims that the hospital has 20 beds set aside for dengue patients. Patients can choose from 10 beds for men and 10 beds for women. About 20–25 people have recovered, and 7 more are receiving treatment right now.
