A 40-year-old businessman was reportedly found dead on New Year’s Eve, hanging from his ceiling fan, in his north-west Delhi Kalyan Vihar home. The family of the businessman has now accused his wife and her parents of harassing him. The man was going through divorce proceedings and a business dispute.

The incident was reported on December 31. The police, who reached the spot, found the man lying motionless, with a ligature mark around his neck, meaning he died from hanging. The father of the deceased handed over the mobile phone and other belongings of the man to the police, which they took into possession for investigation.

The body was taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital for post-mortem examination. The police have stated that further investigation is in process.

The case resembles a suicide that occurred in Bengaluru, wherein a techie wrote a 24-page death note blaming his wife and her relatives for harassment. The case led to a police investigation into abetment of suicide, which led to legal procedures against the accused.
