A senior official of the Delhi government’s Women and Child Development department has been booked on Sunday under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act for raping his friend’s minor daughter multiple times between 2020 and 2021 and impregnating her as well.
The accused works as a deputy director of the Delhi government’s Department of Women and Child Development. The official’s wife has also been arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy. She gave the victim abortion pills to terminate the teen’s pregnancy.
The accused deputy director and the survivor, a Class 12 student, met in 2020 at a Delhi church. This occurred as the survivor’s family was looking for comfort following the demise of her father.
The survivor, who was struggling with her grief, grew close to the deputy director, who ultimately brought her to his house.
The FIR claims that between 2020 and 2021, the deputy director repeatedly raped the 14-year-old victim numerous times.
The survivor was frightened when she learnt about her pregnancy. She confided the entire matter to the deputy director’s wife. However, instead of helping the victim and reporting the crime, the officer’s wife asked her to remain quiet and then went on to get her son to provide her with the drugs she needed to terminate the survivor’s pregnancy.
The police filed a case after getting a complaint from the survivor.
