Flights Delayed at IGI Airport
Over 100 flights have been delayed due to poor visibility at Delhi’s IGI Airport. However, an airport official confirmed that no flight has been diverted or canceled yet. The Delhi Airport issued an advisory on its X account, saying, “While landings and take-offs continue at Delhi Airport, flights that are not CAT III compliant may get affected.” Passengers were advised to check their flight status with the airlines.
IndiGo Airlines, on its part, told the passengers to monitor the flight updates while warning, “Low visibility and fog over Delhi may lead to some delays. We are keeping a close watch on the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly.”
Visibility and Weather Forecast
Visuals from areas such as Dhaula Kuan, India Gate, Nirankari Colony and Shankar Vihar depicted the thick fog’s level of intensity impacting roads. According to the report by the IMD, southeast surface winds at a lower speed of less than 4 kmph would dominate through the morning before picking up strength in the afternoon and weakening yet again during evening and night times.
IMD further said that shallow fog or smog could continue in Delhi-NCR during the evening and night. Dense to very dense fog conditions have been forecast for Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan over the next 2-3 days.
