A deadly pile-up in dense fog on the Delhi-Agra Expressway in Uttar Pradesh reportedly left at least four people dead and around 25 others injured after multiple buses and cars slammed into each other and caught fire in the early hours of Tuesday

A major accident on the Yamuna Expressway caused panic after several vehicles collided in the early hours of the morning. Witnesses said flames spread rapidly from one vehicle to another, creating chaos at the scene. Some vehicles reportedly caught fire immediately after the impact, trapping passengers inside and forcing others to try and escape in extremely poor visibility.

Accident Occurred Around 2 AM Amid Poor Visibility

The crash took place at around 2 am on the Delhi–Agra Expressway when thick fog had drastically reduced visibility. According to police, drivers had very little time to react. In quick succession, six buses and two cars slammed into each other, leaving almost no chance to brake or safely change lanes.

Vehicles Caught Fire After Collision, Passengers Trapped

Eyewitnesses described horrifying scenes as multiple vehicles went up in flames moments after the collision. The sudden fire made rescue difficult, and some passengers were left trapped inside burning vehicles, while others tried to flee the scene amid smoke and fog.

Rescue Operations and Medical Assistance

Emergency services rushed to the spot after receiving reports of the fiery pile-up. Rescue teams worked through the night to pull survivors from damaged vehicles and rush the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Traffic Disruption on Delhi–Agra Expressway

Traffic on the affected stretch of the Delhi–Agra Expressway remained blocked for several hours. Authorities closed the road to carry out rescue, firefighting, and clearing operations. Damaged and burnt vehicles were removed to restore normal traffic flow.

Police Investigation Into Cause of Crash

A detailed investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident. Officials are focusing on the role of dense fog, vehicle speed, and driver response time on the Yamuna Expressway. Safety measures and adherence to speed limits are also being examined as part of the enquiry.
