DCP Noida Central Removed For Delaying Action In Extortion Case

In a significant administrative shake-up, the Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissionerate has removed DCP Noida Central, Sunita. DCP Shakti Mohan Avasthy will now take charge of Noida Central. This move followed allegations that DCP Sunita suppressed an incident for two days and did not take any action. These key transfers were initiated under the leadership of Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh.

Earlier this week, a case was registered against trainee sub-inspector Amit Mishra and his two associates, Abhinav and Ashish, for extorting money from a cab driver in the Thana Bisrakh area. They have been charged under sections 309 and 352 of the BNS. The vehicles used in the incident, a Scorpio and a Hyundai Venue, have been seized. Trainee sub-inspector Amit Mishra has been dismissed from service and arrested under Rule 8(2)(b) of the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Police Officers Punishment and Appeal Rules, 1991. The search for his two associates is ongoing.

The cab driver’s complaint reached the Police Commissioner’s Office on the 5th. The case was assigned to ACP 2 Bisrakh for investigation. After examining the case, ACP 2 confirmed the incident. DCP Noida Central Suniti has been removed for suppressing the incident for two days and failing to take action. Shakti Mohan Awasthi has been appointed as the new DCP Noida Central. Additionally, SHO Bisrakh, Chowki Incharge Gaur City-1, Sub Inspector Ramesh Chandra, and Sub Inspector Mohit have been suspended. Following the incident, there have been changes in the station incharges of Noida Central.

Inspector Manoj Kumar Singh, previously the incharge of Surajpur police station, has been appointed incharge of Bisrakh police station. Inspector Vinod Kumar, formerly the incharge of Ecotech 3 police station, is now the incharge of Surajpur police station. Inspector Anil Pandey has been assigned as the incharge of Ecotech 3. These transfers follow the suspension of the previous Bisrakh SHO, who was involved in extorting cab drivers.
Manoj Kumar is now responsible for Greater Noida West. These changes, effective immediately, aim to enhance law and order and improve administrative efficiency in the region. The Police Commissionerate believes that these adjustments will ensure better governance and public safety.

DCP Shakti Mohan Avasthy told the Daily Guardian that the investigation is ongoing and the department is actively working on the case. He also confirmed that he has taken over the charge of Noida Central, replacing DCP Sunita.
