Taking a significant turn in Delhi’s excise policy case, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court has extended judicial custody of former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia till May 31st in a liquor policy case on Tuesday.
This development coincides with the scheduled delivery of an order by the Delhi High Court on the bail pleas of former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, regarding the money laundering and corruption charges filed against him by both the CBI and the ED.
Later both ED and CBI opposed Sisodia’s plea saying, there was a conspiracy to delay the charges framing process in this case.
However, the Sisodia’s council alleged, that the investigative agencies are still arresting people in money laundering and corruption cases, even though there is no question of early conclusion.
Manish Sisodia has been in judicial custody since February 26, 2023, after he got arrested by CBI. Subsequently, the former deputy CM was later arrested by ED.
According to the investigative agency, alleged irregularities were found in the modified excise policy. As a result, undue extensions were granted to license holders.
Further, the agency also alleged, the license fee was waived or reduced to favor the holders. Followed by the L-1 extension without the competent authority’s approval.
Later, the beneficiaries also managed to divert these illegal gains to accused involved and made false entries in book accounts to evade detection.
