Cong-NC Advancing Pak Agenda, Says Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday declared that terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has been “buried” and will not be allowed to make a comeback under the BJP government. Addressing an election rally in Chenani, Udhampur district, Shah reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to creating a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir, while accusing the National Conference (NC)-Congress alliance of advancing Pakistan’s agenda if they gain power.

Shah, who is leading the BJP’s campaign for the ongoing assembly elections in the Union territory, emphasized that these elections are being conducted without the shadow of Article 370, a temporary provision revoked by the Modi-led government in August 2019. Shah hailed this decision as the fulfilment of Syama Prasad Mukherjee’s vision of fully integrating J&K into India.

“Whoever spreads terror in Jammu and Kashmir will face the gallows,” Shah asserted, adding that the government has taken decisive steps to eliminate terrorism. Citing the case of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, he asked, “Should Afzal Guru have been hanged or not? The NC-Congress are now claiming that he should not have been. But we ensured justice was served.”

Shah also accused NC leader Omar Abdullah of seeking to release stone-pelters and terrorists but assured voters that BJP’s tough laws have ensured that no one dares to hurl stones anymore. “Omar Abdullah’s dream of undoing our progress will remain just that — a dream,” Shah said, reiterating that the law and courts will uphold justice.
