The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has claimed that the quality of education in Delhi government schools has significantly deteriorated, with over 17,000 students failing class 9 for the second time. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva stated that this high number of failures exposes the false claims made by Education Minister Atishi Singh regarding providing world-class education.
The BJP has consistently argued that education standards in Arvind Kejriwal’s government schools are declining. They claim that the government deliberately fails a large number of weaker students in classes 9 and 11 to reduce the number of students taking the class 10 exam, thereby artificially improving pass rates for classes 10 and 12. However, the recent class 9 results clearly indicate that the Kejriwal government’s decision to reassign thousands of teachers from teaching duties to administrative and other tasks has significantly degraded school standards.
Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva emphasized that the high number of failures exposes the false claims of providing world-class education by Education Minister Atishi Singh. He added that it is shameful that the Delhi government is pushing students towards open school instead of encouraging regular attendance and success within the school system. Education Minister Atishi Singh should explain how students who struggle in regular school are expected to succeed in open school without tuition, especially since their families cannot afford private tutoring.
