In Bengaluru, a man shared a distressing account of being assaulted by two individuals on a scooter while walking with friends in Koramangala around 9:30 p.m. The attack, described on the ‘Bangalore’ subreddit by user @avi1299, occurred suddenly at the intersection of 2nd Cross Road and 17th F Main Road. He felt a sharp slap, only to see the culprits swiftly ride away on their scooter, leaving him and his friends stunned and bewildered.

The incident underscores the vulnerability individuals may face in public spaces, prompting renewed calls for vigilance and safety precautions. The unprovoked assault serves as a stark reminder of the importance of staying alert, even in familiar environments, to mitigate risks and ensure personal security.

Following the initial slap, the situation escalated when one of the men dismounted the scooter and confronted the victim and his friends. Clearly intoxicated, the aggressor hurled abuses in Kannada and attempted to slap the victim again, though he managed to evade the blow. The intoxicated man, visibly aggressive, accused the group of staring at him and forcibly snatched the victim’s glasses, taunting him about his inability to stare now. Amidst the chaos, he boasted about being a formidable force, threatening to take on everyone present.

Despite the escalating tension and verbal assaults, the victim and his friends chose not to retaliate. Concerned about potential escalation, the presence of weapons, or the involvement of a larger group, they decided to de-escalate the situation and avoid further confrontation, opting for safety and restraint over retaliation.

After the incident, the victim and his friends returned to the spot to check for CCTV footage but found little help from the police, who dismissed the matter, suggesting the attackers could be from a nearby slum. Feeling uncertain about their actions and the response they received, the victim urged others to stay cautious, as similar assaults could happen unexpectedly. The post has since garnered attention, sparking discussions among the public and prompting others to share their own experiences of being victimized in the city.
