Ayodhya Development Authority plants Ramayan-era trees ahead of Ram Temple consecration

The Ayodhya Development Authority is gearing up to plant ancient trees mentioned in the Ramayana and those facing extinction across the city in anticipation of the Ram temple consecration ceremony on January 22. A substantial order of 50,000 plants is underway, set to arrive in Ayodhya shortly.

Ram Prakash Rathore, the Nursery Director, stated, “Currently, there is an order of 50,000 plants. More varieties of plants will come here, and they are being sent here with the help of different vehicles.”

Vishal Singh, Vice Chairman of the Ayodhya Development Authority, emphasized the promotion of plants mentioned in the Ramayana and those on the verge of extinction. He mentioned, “We are promoting the plants that have been mentioned in the Ramayana. On top of this, we are also promoting those that are going extinct. Apart from this, we are doing horticulture beautification for flowers.”

Preparations for the ceremony are in full swing, expected to draw dignitaries and people from various sections of society. The event has gained significant attention, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence anticipated at the consecration ceremony.

Vedic rituals for the Pran-Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony of Ram Lalla will commence on January 16, a week before the main ceremony. The main rituals on January 22 will be performed by priest Lakshmi Kant Dixit from Varanasi. From January 14 to January 22, Ayodhya will observe the Amrit Mahotsav. A 1008 Hundi Mahayagya is also planned, aiming to feed thousands of devotees. Multiple tent cities are being set up in Ayodhya to accommodate the expected influx of devotees for the grand consecration.

The Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust has announced arrangements for 10,000-15,000 people during the ceremony.
