At Pokhran firing range, PM Modi arrives to see Bharat Shakti exercise

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Pokhran firing range in Rajasthan on Tuesday  witnessing the Bharat Shakti exercise, a demonstration showcasing the capabilities of indigenously manufactured defence equipment across the three services.

In his remarks, PM Modi emphasized the importance of reducing dependence on others for India’s development. He stated, “If we want to make India ‘viksit’, then we need to reduce our dependence on others. That’s why India is focusing on ‘atmanirbharta’ in every sector – from edible oils to modern aircraft.”

Highlighting the significant progress in defence production over the last decade, PM Modi noted, “In the last 10 years, the country’s defence production has more than doubled, which means it is more than ₹1 lakh crore. The youth are playing a key role in this.”

He highlighted the contribution of over 150 defence startups in the last decade, with the forces committing orders worth ₹1,800 crore to these startups. PM Modi emphasized that a self-reliant India in the defence sector ensures confidence in the armed forces.

The integrated tri-service firepower and manoeuvre exercise lasted approximately 50 minutes. PM Modi described Pokhran as a witness to the trinity of India’s self-reliance, belief, and self-pride, stating, “Roar of aircraft mid-air, valour displayed on the ground during Bharat Shakti exercise is the call of a ‘new India’.”

In connection with the earlier video, it is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi consistently emphasizes the importance of indigenization. He reiterated that self-reliance is crucial for India’s development and prosperity.
