Similar Incident Last Week

This mishap follows another fatal incident just days earlier, where five soldiers lost their lives, and five others, including the driver, sustained serious injuries. The accident occurred when a vehicle in a six-vehicle convoy skidded off the road near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, plunging into a rivulet. Officials confirmed that the Poonch incident was not related to any terrorist activity.

Adverse Weather Conditions

The Kashmir Valley has been gripped by a severe cold wave, with dense fog and icy conditions prevailing across the region. Weather officials have predicted heavy snowfall over the middle and higher reaches of the valley, issuing a ‘yellow’ alert for Saturday and an ‘orange’ alert for Sunday.

The MeT department warned of potential disruptions in road and air transport, urging residents to exercise caution and avoid non-essential travel during adverse weather conditions.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have advised the public to remain vigilant to ensure safety amidst challenging weather conditions.
