ADGP Jammu Zone Reviews Security Arrangements for 15th August, 2024

Jammu, July 29: In light of the recent terror threats and ongoing attacks, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Shri Anand Jain, IPS, convened a critical high-level security review meeting to ensure robust preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.

The meeting, held today, saw participation from key officials across various sectors, including the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Intelligence agencies, local Police, Security Wing, and Civil Administration. The primary focus was to review and bolster security arrangements in the Jammu district, with special attention given to potential threats and intelligence inputs.

Officers provided a comprehensive overview of the current security landscape, discussing threat assessments and strategic responses. The discussion highlighted the importance of a coordinated approach involving the Army, CRPF, BSF, and CID to address emerging security concerns effectively.

In his address, ADGP Jain emphasized the critical need for inter-agency cooperation to counteract the latest trends in terror activities. He stressed the importance of strengthening border deployments and securing Police and Army establishments. The ADGP also called for offensive operations in addition to preventive measures, stressing the need for joint checkpoints at vulnerable locations and inter-district boundaries.

The ADGP directed that heightened vigilance be maintained for the 15th of August celebrations, with particular attention to the ongoing Amarnath Ji Yatra. He underscored the necessity of preventing infiltration attempts and countering the increased use of drones by terror outfits for illicit activities.

Special emphasis was placed on enhancing Naka points along the national highway to monitor and control anti-social elements. ADGP Jain urged officers to thwart any potential terrorist plans by reinforcing border, highway, and hinterland security grids. He directed the formulation of comprehensive security plans to ensure a successful and secure Independence Day celebration.

The meeting also reviewed specific arrangements for the Independence Day festivities, with officers briefing the ADGP on the security measures and scenarios in their respective jurisdictions.
