Following an FIR against the parents of trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar for allegedly threatening a farmer, Pune Rural Police stated that the accused are on the run and their phones are off.
“The accused are on the run. We are trying to contact them, but their phones are switched off. We also went to their residence, but they were not there,” said Pankaj Deshmukh, SP, Pune Rural.
“Several teams, including officials from the local crime branch and local police stations, are searching for them in Pune and nearby places with some farmhouses and residences. When found, we will question them and take action accordingly,” the officer added.
Manorama and Dilip Khedkar are among seven people booked based on a complaint by a local farmer who claimed he was threatened by Manorama Khedkar, the mother of the probationary IAS officer.
The family, through their lawyer, claimed that the gun seen in the video was used to prevent further escalation of the argument and for self-defense. They also stated that they possess all necessary permits for the weapon.
