Delhi minister Saurabh Bhardwaj on Sunday rued the fact that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was not invited to an event in which a metro line was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Bhardwaj went on to say that the Delhi government has made a significant 50 percent contribution to the DMRC. He expressed disappointment that during the G-20 summit, Prime Minister Modi was emphasizing concepts like “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family) and “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” (development for all), but regrettably, he did not extend an invitation to the Delhi Chief Minister for the inauguration of the metro.
Delhi minister Atishi said that not inviting the Delhi Chief Minister to an event of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) reflects “cheap mentality” and added that the prime minister should rise above party lines.
AAP leader and Delhi minister Saurabh Bhardwaj remarked that just a week ago, Prime Minister Modi was addressing the concept of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam” in the presence of world leaders, underscoring the idea that the entire world is like a family. Unfortunately, the three-time Chief Minister of his own country is not invited to the inauguration of the metro.
PM Modi is often praised as a global statesman; if Modi wants people to view him as a statesman, he needs to demonstrate statesman-like qualities in his behavior.
The DMRC operates with an equal fifty-fifty financial contribution from both the state and central governments. However, even if the state government had not contributed, the Chief Minister should have received an invitation due to his position. The Central Government and Modi ji should avoid such things, as these are minor issues.
