Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is out of danger and recovering after being operated upon for stab wounds at Mumbai’s Leelavati Hospital. The 54-year-old actor was attacked by an intruder who broke into his Bandra apartment at around 3 a.m. on Thursday. Saif’s health is stable, and he is out of danger following surgery.
Here are five things we know about the attacker who stabbed Saif Ali Khan:
1.) Identification of the Attacker: Mumbai Police’s Zone 9 DCP Dikshit Gedam confirmed that the intruder, who entered Saif Ali Khan’s flat with burglary intent, was identified. The attacker used the fire escape to enter the apartment.
2.) First one to Spot the Attacker: Saif’s domestic help, Elyimma Philips (Lima), was in the house and saw the intruder. She tried to stop him and sustained injuries to her hand.
3.) Saif’s Intervention: When Lima screamed, Saif Ali Khan came into the room, and there was a scuffle with the intruder. The intruder, armed with a knife, stabbed Saif in the struggle.
4.) Running Away from the Place: After stabbing Saif, the intruder ran away through the staircase. The CCTV footage recorded his activities.
5.) Ongoing Search for the Attacker: “One accused has been identified. He used the staircase to enter, and teams are in the field to arrest him. There are 10 detection teams working in different directions,” DCP Gedam said.
Saif Ali Khan’s Health Update: Saif Ali Khan sustained serious injuries, including damage to his thoracic spinal cord from the knife lodged in his spine. “Saif Ali Khan was brought to the hospital at 2 am with an alleged history of assault by some unknown person. He had sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine. A surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair leaking spinal fluid. Two other deep wounds on his left hand and one other on his neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team. He is completely stable now. He is recovering well and out of danger now,” said Dr. Nitin Dange from Lilavati Hospital.
