The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has started proceedings against a private city hospital for reportedly discriminating against economically disadvantaged patients (EWS).

Madhukar Rainbow Hospital in Malviya Nagar has been accused of isolating and categorizing EWS patients and forcing them to wait in inhumane conditions in the hospital’s basement, according to DCW Chief Swati Maliwal.
The Director General of Health Services (DGHS) conducted an unannounced examination of the facility. As an outcome, the hospital has been instructed to address the situation and ensure that all patients are treated equally.

The Delhi Commission for Women has taken action against a private city hospital for mistreating and discriminating against economically disadvantaged (EWS) patients. Ms. Juhi Khan, a former member of the Commission, explained the situation regarding the discrimination against the EWS category.

She said that the hospital was isolating and categorizing these patients and forcing them to wait in a separate area in the hospital’s basement (in the car lot) with no suitable seats or cooling systems. Women and children were allegedly made to sit in awful conditions.
