A 10-year-old boy from a small border village in Punjab has captured the nation’s heart with his bravery. Shravan Singh received India’s top child honour, the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2025, at a ceremony in Delhi. The award celebrates his courage and selfless service to Indian Army soldiers during a tense operation along the IndiaPakistan border.

Shravan’s story began in May 2025, when Operation Sindoor brought Indian soldiers to his village during heightened tensions. Instead of staying indoors like most, he chose to help in any way he could.

Bravery on the Border: What Shravan Did

Shravan grew up in Chak Taran Wali, a village near the Ferozepur border. During Operation Sindoor, he noticed soldiers stationed at forward posts facing scorching heat and long hours. Despite being just a child, he started carrying water, cold milk, tea, lassi, and ice to the troops.

He made the journey daily, often on foot or on his small bicycle. The soldier’s posts were in highrisk zones where enemy drones flew overhead, yet Shravan never showed hesitation.

His efforts brought relief and encouragement to the soldiers. Many praised him as a symbol of youthful patriotism and courage at a time when fear gripped the border region.

President Confers Prestigious Award

On December 26, 2025, President Droupadi Murmu presented the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to Shravan at a grand event in New Delhi. The award honours children who show extraordinary courage, service, innovation, or achievement in various fields.

Shravan stood proudly with other winners, including children recognised for excellence in sports, science, and community service. His achievement stood out for its simple yet powerful act of service in a challenging environment.

Shravan’s Own Words After Winning

After receiving the award, Shravan shared his feelings: “When Operation Sindoor began against Pakistan, soldiers came to our village. I thought I should serve them. I used to take milk, tea, buttermilk, and ice for them daily… I feel great to be awarded. I had never dreamt of it.” His honest words reflect humility and pride in serving his nation.

These remarks have struck a chord across India. Many people praised him for showing that patriotism is not defined by age, but by action—a sentiment echoed by leaders and citizens alike.

Army Support and Future Dreams

Even before the national award, the Indian Army acknowledged Shravan’s contribution. The Western Command honoured him in a special event in Ferozepur and promised to support his education fully.

Shravan clearly knows what he wants next. He has said he dreams of joining the Indian Army when he grows up. His desire to serve his country continues to inspire adults and children alike.

Why Shravan’s Story Matters

Shravan’s actions came during a period of unease at the border. Many adults stayed cautious, but this young boy stepped forward to help those protecting the country. His story shows that courage can come from the youngest among us, and acts of kindness and bravery can make a big difference.
