Senior Advocate and Additional Advocate General (AAG) Inderpal Singh Dhanna has been selected as the upcoming Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Punjab, according to an announcement by Punjab Communications Director Baltej Pannu on social media.
Known for his close association with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Dhanna will take over the role from the retired CIC, former Director General of Police Suresh Arora, who concluded his tenure in September 2023. Earlier speculations had suggested the possibility of A Venu Prasad, the former additional chief secretary to CM Mann, being considered for the CIC position.
With Dhanna’s appointment, there is now anticipation regarding the filling of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) chairperson role, and former IPS Jatinder Aulakh is among the leading contenders for the position.
