BJP leader Pankaja Munde stated that it would not be a wise decision for any political party to deny her a ticket for the 2024 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections. Munde, a former state minister, was addressing an event organized by a news channel. In response to a question, she said, “Why won’t my party field me in the election… Not giving a ticket to a candidate like me would not be a good decision for any party. If they make such a decision, they will have to answer the people.”
What did Pankaja Munde say?
In 2019, Pankaja Munde was defeated on the Parli Assembly seat by her cousin and NCP leader Dhananjay Munde. She also stated that she is not actively seeking a new electoral constituency. She has ruled out the possibility of taking her sister, Lok Sabha MP Pritam Munde’s place.
Response to NCP MP Supriya Sule’s statements
On the subject of sympathetic comments made about her by NCP leader Supriya Sule, Pankaja Munde remarked, “Maybe she is still going through the same phase I experienced about 10-12 years ago.” Notably, Dhananjay Munde is now allied with the NCP’s Ajit Pawar group, which rebelled against Sharad Pawar, and he currently serves as a state minister in the Shiv Sena-BJP-NCP government.
GST notice to a cooperative sugar mill controlled by Pankaja’s family
BJP leader Pankaja Munde confirmed on Tuesday that a cooperative sugar mill controlled by her family had received a notice from the GST department. The former Maharashtra minister was speaking to journalists here. On being asked about the GST department’s notice, she said that the incident occurred two to three months ago and is still ongoing. “We are giving a positive response to it,” she stated.
