Due to accusations made by Brandon Garrett, who claimed to be Nicki Minaj’s former manager, the singer is currently involved in a court struggle. Garrett filed a lawsuit against the rapper in April 2024 for beating him backstage at a Detroit show. According to TMZ, the assault started as a furious dispute that got so out of hand that Minaj allegedly gave Garrett such a strong slap that his hat flew off, leaving him clearly shaken.

According to the lawsuit, Minaj was reportedly incensed when Garrett relayed to her that he had sent someone else to get her prescription. The rapper, according to Garrett, verbally attacked him, threatening him, saying, “You have ruined my life,” and claimed that her husband would have done something more extreme if he had been there. According to the reports, Minaj allegedly hit him in the face and on the wrist during the scuffle, which scattered documents, leaving Garrett feeling embarrassed and afraid for his safety. He locked himself in a restroom for hours before flying back to Chicago, where he reported the incident to the police, citing concerns for his belongings and well-being.

Garrett’s complaint also claims that Minaj’s camp dropped him in Detroit and left him there. Based on his allegations of physical assault and the emotional pain he says the encounter caused, he is suing for damages. The accusations have reignited interest in workplace behaviour and celebrity management.

Judd Burstein, Minaj’s lawyer, brushed the accusations off as unfounded. According to him, no official complaint has yet been filed, and if the information TMZ published is correct, the accusations are “false and frivolous.” Burstein has no doubt that Minaj will win the case in court.
