Warwick Davis, famed for his roles in Harry Potter and Star Wars, will be honored with the prestigious BAFTA Fellowship at the EE BAFTA Film Awards on February 16, 2025. This honor recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to film, television, or gaming.

Celebrating a Storied Career

Davis is widely recognized for portraying Professor Filius Flitwick in Harry Potter and Wicket the Ewok in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983). His career spans decades, with roles in some of the most beloved film franchises. BAFTA shared the news on Instagram, announcing, “We’re excited to announce that British actor, comedian, presenter, and producer Warwick Davis is to be awarded the BAFTA Fellowship.”

A Heartfelt Statement

Davis expressed his gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity. He said, “I accept this Fellowship in honor of everyone living with dwarfism or any form of difference, reminding us that our uniqueness can be our greatest asset.” He also highlighted the essential contributions of behind-the-scenes teams who play a crucial role in every production.

Beyond Acting: Davis’s Contributions

Davis’s impact extends beyond acting. Diagnosed with a rare form of dwarfism, he founded Willow Management, an agency representing actors under five feet tall. He also co-founded Little People UK, a charity supporting people with dwarfism, and established the Reduced Height Theatre Company to offer opportunities for actors outside traditional casting molds.

A Well-Deserved Recognition

BAFTA Chair Sara Putt praised Davis, calling him “a talented, much-loved, and truly inspiring figure who has captivated audiences over many decades.” Putt expressed excitement about honoring Davis’s impressive body of work and achievements at the upcoming ceremony.

Joining a Prestigious List

Davis joins a distinguished list of previous BAFTA Fellowship recipients, including Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Judi Dench, Sean Connery, and Elizabeth Taylor.
