Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, speaking at the ‘Punarvas’ (rehabilitation) program in Thodo ground, Solan district, attributed the decline in education standards in the state to the policies of the previous BJP government. Addressing the public, Sukhu unveiled plans for the upcoming academic session, including the introduction of English from Class 1 in government schools and the provision of smart uniforms for students. He stressed the need for school clusters to enhance management and announced the recruitment of guest faculty to address teacher shortages. During the event, Sukhu distributed relief funds exceeding Rs 11.31 crore to families affected by disasters in Solan district. Expressing disappointment with the lack of BJP support for declaring the monsoon disaster a national disaster in the Assembly, Sukhu highlighted that, despite no special package from the central government, his administration allocated Rs 4,500 crore to aid affected individuals with limited resources. Acknowledging the inherited debt burden of Rs 75,000 crore from the previous BJP government, Sukhu affirmed his commitment to overcoming challenges with the support of the people, employees, and officers of Himachal Pradesh. He emphasized his governance’s goal of systemic change for the benefit of the deprived sections and clarified that no one from his family has been involved in politics.
