Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has formed a committee under the chairmanship of the Special Secretary Health to address the demands and grievances of the state’s physicians. This committee will include the Director of Health and Family Welfare, the Director of Medical Education, and representatives from the Medical Officers Association. The committee will study various aspects related to the promotion of physicians and make recommendations for the welfare of medical officers. On Tuesday, the Chief Minister was holding a meeting with the Himachal Medical Officers Association (HMOA) and department officials. He directed the formation of a committee under the chairmanship of the Special Secretary (Health) to consider the grievances and demands of medical officers.
The Chief Minister said that despite the challenging financial situation, the state government is sympathetically considering the legitimate demands of physicians. As a result of the government’s efforts, the state’s economy is gradually improving. He assured that all financial benefits to the state employees will be ensured on time. He called upon medical officers to cooperate with the state government as much as possible in improving the state’s economy. He said that the state government is recruiting new medical officers and assistant staff to address the shortage of physicians and paramedical staff in the health sector. Efforts are being made to improve the work of physicians by introducing 8-hour shifts. Exposure tours to foreign countries will also be organized for physicians for the latest technology and their skill development in the health service sector.
The CM directed the Health Department to digitize the data of officers to streamline the functioning of physicians’ systems. He said that ideal health institutions will be established in each assembly constituency to provide specialized health services near homes, and 6-6 specialist physicians will be deployed in each institution. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Colonel Dhaniram Shandil, Health Secretary M. Sudha Devi, Special Secretary Health Neeraj Kumar, Dr. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Director Health Services Dr. Gopal Berry, and representatives of HMOA were present at the meeting.
