In a surprising turn of events in wedding planning, Ernesto Reinares Varea, a self-proclaimed “wedding destroyer” from Spain, has transformed the act of sabotaging marriages into a lucrative business. What began as a satirical online advertisement has evolved into a thriving venture, with Varea booked to disrupt weddings through the end of the year.

The Birth of an Unconventional Service

Varea’s unique business idea gained traction after he posted a humorous ad offering to object at weddings for those experiencing second thoughts. The ad read, “If you have doubts or don’t want to get married and don’t know how to refuse, don’t worry anymore, I’ll object to your wedding.” To his surprise, he started receiving genuine requests from both brides and grooms, prompting him to officially launch his unconventional service.

How It Works

The process is quite simple: clients provide Varea with the wedding’s time and location, and for 500 euros (approximately Rs 47,000), he will attend, object to the marriage, and dramatically flee the scene, pretending to be the client’s true love. Additionally, Varea offers to handle any physical retaliation from upset family members, charging an extra 50 euros for each punch thrown during the ensuing chaos.

High Demand and Public Reaction

Varea has experienced significant demand for his services, revealing that he is fully booked until December. “I have weddings scheduled until December,” he shared in an interview with Newsflash.

His unusual career has garnered considerable media attention, even prompting discussions on NBC’s Today show. Co-hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb weighed in on Varea’s profession, both expressing reluctance to utilize such a service. “No, because for free you can just say, ‘I want to break up,’” remarked Bush Hager, while Kotb found the idea of “the weird guy” disrupting a wedding quite strange.
