After Haryana has decided to develop the Morni and Tikkar Taal area on footprints of adjoining Shimla and Kasauli hill stations, in this row, the state government along with the tourism department has come up with a novel plan to start adventure activities and water sports in three lakes. Prior to this, the above-mentioned categories were started last month in Tikkar Taal for one month. Following the same and to promote tourism in the state at a large scale, three more lakes namely Tilyar Lake, Dumdama and Karan lake falling in Rohtak, Gurugram, and Karnal respectively have been selected and preliminary survey conducted for the same came up with fruitful results.
Everyone is familiar with the fact that the tourism industry plays an extremely minor role in our GDP and in terms of revenue i.e. below even 1% forcing to state come up with a novel plan and strategy to develop above hilly areas resembling our adjoining Himachal Pardesh which is a centre of attraction for tourists across the country. Aforesaid three lakes fall on the prime locations particularly Tilyar and Karna which is likely to attract foothills after these witnesses a start of new activities. The departmental information states that the results of the preliminary survey which was conducted earlier led to the decision of starting the above activities.
Regarding this, MD Sinha, Principal Secretary of the tourism department said that running water sports activities in these areas is most likely to increase foothills attracting maximum tourists.
In view of this, officials have performed required formalities and these activities will last for at least a one-year trial base. It is learnt that the department came up with the above plan focusing particularly on many aspects including increasing employment in adjoining areas, domestic and repeated tourism. As the local areas require maximum employment, the officials continue to target to provide jobs to localities so that they can raise their lifestyle. Apart from this repeated tourism is required to be taken into consideration which means to make visitors visit these places repeatedly. Besides, the concept of short duration tourism emerged as one of the factors which led to the start above activities in these areas.
