Manoj Yadava was appointed the Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana on February 21, 2019, for a two-year term and was given an extension till further orders. The appointment of a new DGP has begun and the recommendations have been sent to the Union Public Service Commission after Home Minister Anij Vij asked the Home Secretary to initiate the process. Following the orders, a panel of seven eligible candidates was forwarded to the UPSC. In continuation to this, what came to the light is that the new DGP of the state is likely to be appointed till the end of this month— Vij confirmed the same saying the state government has fulfilled all required formalities, and there seems no reason for the delay. It is pertinent to mention that the extension to the present DGP Yadav led to controversy as Vij was not in favour of the same and raised objections. It is worth mentioning that the UPSC will send a panel of three officers to the government and among these, it is up to the state government to choose a new DGP.
Several candidates are in the fray for the post. The penal sent to UPSC of the IPS includes PK Agarwal 1988 batch officer, Mohammad Aqil and RC Mishra, 1989 batch officers, and Shatrujeet Kapoor and Deshraj Singh, 1990 batch officers.
