Haryana recorded a voter turnout of 49.13 percent by 3 PM across its 90 assembly seats, according to the Election Commission of India on Saturday.
Yamunanagar topped the list with the highest turnout at 56.79 percent, followed closely by Mewat at 56.59 percent, Palwal at 56.02 percent, and Jind at 53.94 percent. In contrast, Gurugram had the lowest turnout at 38.61 percent.
Other turnout figures include Mahendragarh at 52.67 percent, Fatehabad at 52.46 percent, Kurukshetra at 52.13 percent, Hisar at 51.25 percent, Rohtak at 50.62 percent, Bhiwani at 50.31 percent, Rewari at 50.22 percent, and Kaithal at 50.58 percent. Ambala saw a turnout of 49.39 percent, Jhajjar 49.68 percent, Panipat 49.40 percent, Karnal 49.17 percent, Sirsa 48.78 percent, Charkhi Dadri 47.08 percent, Sonipat 45.86 percent, Panchkula 42.60 percent, and Faridabad 41.74 percent.
Voting began at 7 AM and will continue until 6 PM, with a total of 1,031 candidates vying for election across 90 constituencies and 20,632 polling booths set up.
After casting his vote, Congress leader and wrestler Bajrang Punia expressed his hope for a Congress government in the state. Meanwhile, Dronacharya awardee Mahavir Singh Phogat praised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its achievements over the past decade. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed confidence in the BJP’s victory, highlighting the party’s dedicated service over the last ten years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
The key parties contesting in Haryana include the BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), along with the pre-poll alliance of the Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party (INLD-BSP) and the Jannayak Janta Party-Azad Samaj Party (JJP-ASP).
Results for the Haryana Assembly elections will be announced alongside those for Jammu and Kashmir on October 8. In the previous 2019 elections, the BJP won 40 of the 90 seats, forming a coalition government with the JJP, which secured 10 seats, while Congress gained 31 seats. However, the JJP later exited the coalition.
