The Tourism industry contributes just 0.3 percent of the total GDP of Haryana which indicates the declining status of the tourism industry. In view of this, the Haryana government had decided to develop at least one international tourist hub and in wake of this, Morni and Tikkar Tak which fall in Himalayan mountain range were selected to be developed as an international tourist hub. Prior to this, as a part of the mentioned above, the state tourism department had started adventurous and water sports activities in the area on trial basis on June 20, 2021 for three months and following the successful trial, Manohar Lal , the state chief minister inaugurated above said activities officially and practically.

Water sports and activities here on Thursday including jet scooter, para motor and para ceiling and according to the Gaurav Garg , who conducts these activities claimed that Panchkula is the second place in terms of jet scooter water sports activity.

Morni and Tikkar Tal are nearly 30 kilometers away from Chandigarh-Shimla failing National highway-22 and in view of this, most of the tourists prefer to go either Kasauli or Shimla instead of visiting Morni. It came to surface that a lack of facilities and infrastructure emerges as a huge factor due to which the tourists avoid coming here.

A lack of facilities includes accommodation, shopping and food market, network problem and petrol pump. Considering all these factors, the government has decided to start a string of new projects worth hundreds of crores.

In order to provide accommodation facilities, the government has launched a home stay policy which allows the local people residing in Morni-Tikkar Tal areas to give their houses on rent to the visitors at reasonable rates so that the tourist can have a feeling of staying at their own home in the hills. Following this, those willing to provide their house on rent will have to follow a certain set of rules and will be given a certificate for the same. Any person lacking money, would be provided a loan to construct the house for the same. Regarding the same and addressing media persons, Manohar Lal opined that in view of the improving infrastructure in the area, the rate of the lands got increased by two or three times.

Thus, the whole scenario clearly depicts that on the lines of adjoining Kasuali and Shimla, the Haryana government has come with a foolproof plan to develop Morni-Tikkar Tal as international tourist hub which will undoubtedly add to the state exchequer. Apart from the above, air taxi service also has been initiated from Pinjore to Morni-Tikkar Tal. Thus the Morni area which has been witnessing negligence for decades is likely to meet a new bright fate after the state government has come up to develop it on the line of international tourist places. Besides, transport facilities also have been extended as two new buses from Panchkula to Morni got started. Along with this, the department recognizes a site for establishing a petrol pump. So, Morni is to be a new tourist place for the the tourists in coming times.
