Two students lost their lives and three others suffered serious injuries in a road accident on the Sohna elevated flyover in Gurugram on Monday.

According to reports, the crash occurred when a car carrying three students lost control, collided with a divider, and crashed down onto another vehicle and a motorcycle below.

A video of the incident has emerged on social media.

The tragedy unfolded as Akshit (18) and Daksh (19), students from GD Goenka University and KR Mangalam University, respectively, were heading to college with their friend Dhruv.

While approaching Alipur village, their car hit the divider, which caused it to become airborne and collide with a pillar of the flyover. The impact was intense, leading to the vehicle’s roof striking the lower part of the flyover before it fell onto another car and a motorcycle.

Akshit and Daksh, both residents of Nathupur and Ghitorni in Delhi, died instantly, while Dhruv suffered significant injuries. Additionally, Mohit, a resident of Sohna driving the other car, and Ishwar, a biker from Palwal, were also critically hurt. All injured parties were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent care.

The accident resulted in a considerable traffic jam, with vehicles backing up on the highway. Police from Bhondsi station responded to the scene and utilized a crane to remove the damaged cars, taking nearly an hour to restore traffic flow.

Authorities have initiated an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to ascertain the cause of the accident.
