The health department of the state has gone on high alert in the midst of rising COVID cases in the nation. Following the department’s directives, a mock drill was conducted on Tuesday in all major government hospitals, including Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur, to assess the availability of oxygen plants, beds, medications, and other equipment.
On Tuesday morning, around 11 am, the hospital director, Dr Achal Sharma, the additional director Dr Pradeep Sharma, and other doctors visited the hospital to inspect the oxygen plant. Subsequently, checks were conducted for medications, testing counters, and ambulance arrangements. Dr. Achal Sharma stated that a separate advanced critical care ambulance has been prepared for COVID patients, which will be used exclusively for referring or transporting them.
The number of corona-infected people reached 28, with 14 active cases in Jaipur. Three more new Corona positive cases were found on Tuesday. Of these, 1 is from Jaipur, 1 from Ajmer and 1 from Sikar. Jaipur has the highest number of corona-infected people in the state.
Dr Achal Sharma mentioned, “All our oxygen plants are active. We have more than three oxygen plants with a capacity of approximately 900 metric tons. In addition, a large plant has been installed, which will start running after the inauguration of the IPD tower. We have sufficient stock of medications, and we have also set up a dedicated ward for COVID patients.”
COVID cases are increasing in states across the country, including Rajasthan, due to the Omicron variant (JN.1) of the Coronavirus.
After a meeting with all officials a few days ago, the state health department, following the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, issued advisories regarding COVID in the state. The advisory included instructions to conduct tests for all suspected patients and sequencing the genome of those found positive. Additionally, hospitals were instructed to strengthen infrastructure in case of an increase in the number of patients. As part of this, hospital heads were directed to conduct a mock drill to assess the resources available.
In the last 24 hours, Rajasthan has reported 5 new COVID cases, with 3 in Jaipur and 1 each in Nagaur and Alwar. The total number of active cases in the state has now reached 25. According to reports from the Medical Health Department, 143 samples were tested in Jaipur on Tuesday, with 3 cases turning out positive. Across Rajasthan, 257 samples were tested.
