Governor Kalraj Mishra, addressing various public meetings in support of BJP candidates in Rajasthan on Friday, gave a call to make India a leader in the field of liver transplantation through research and development in the specific knowledge area of liver transplantation along with timely medical treatment of liver-related diseases. He addressed the annual conference of the “International Living Donor Liver Transplantation” organised by the Liver Transplant Society of India in a hotel on Friday. While addressing the gathering, he expressed concern over the increasing number of patients with liver cancer and liver cirrhosis in the country and also emphasised the efforts of doctors in the direction of liver transplantation, which is meaningful. He said that seeing the increasing number of diseases related to the liver, meaningful arrangements for excellent treatment should be ensured at all levels.
The Governor also emphasised raising awareness among the public about the reasons for liver damage. He said, “Every year, close to 3 lakh deaths occur here due to liver disease. After TB, most deaths occur for this reason.” He emphasised the need to spread awareness about liver transplantation and create an environment for liver donation.
