The Jammu and Kashmir government has taken stern action against two hospitals, including a Government Super Specialty Hospital, for their failure to provide treatment as mandated.

Under the leadership of District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya, the District Grievance Redressal Committee for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana imposed fines on Bee Enn General Hospital Canal Road Jammu and Government Super Specialty Hospital Jammu for denying treatment under the PMJAY scheme.

Following thorough investigations, the committee found both hospitals guilty of disregarding their obligations under the flagship health insurance scheme. As per the committee’s recommendations to the State Health Agency, the two hospitals are set to face fines totaling a minimum of Rs 1,22,711, in accordance with established guidelines. Bee Enn General Hospital was found to have refused a neuro-surgery, while the Government Super Specialty Hospital was found to have denied an essential component for a cardiac surgery, namely the Drug Coated Balloon.

In addition to addressing these specific cases, other grievances related to the PMJAY scheme were discussed during the meeting, with a focus on finding prompt resolutions to ensure the scheme’s effectiveness and inclusivity.

The meeting was attended by key committee members, including Chief Medical Officer Dr. Harbaksh Singh, Assistant Commissioner Development Dr. Vikas Sharma, District Grievances Nodal Officer Alok Chatta, and other concerned officials, underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring access to healthcare for all citizens.
