Marvel’s Eyes of Wakanda premiered with four fast-paced episodes on Disney+, featuring an in-depth exploration of the secret history of the iconic MCU state. Marvel and Disney+ haven’t officially renewed it for season two, but strong creative backing, fan love, and Marvel’s animation history indicate that the story cannot end yet.

Executive producer Ryan Coogler is on board, says showrunner more tales are in the pipeline, and earlier animated series on the platform have all received extended runs. Meanwhile, enthusiasts speculate whether the show can potentially tie into Black Panther 3 — a fresh angle that will continue to keep Wakanda’s tale alive on multiple screens.

Coogler’s Creative Touch Fuels Optimism

Eyes of Wakanda is executive produced by Ryan Coogler, the visionary mastermind behind the Black Panther movies. He’s also the director of Sinners, which is one of this year’s surprise sensations. His heavy involvement lends the series serious credibility and creative heft.

Co-writer Marc Bernardin shared in an interview with Super Hero Hype that Coogler was passionate during brainstorming sessions. “To get to speak to Ryan about Wakanda, about the War Dogs, and the universe as he envisioned it. that was incredible,” Bernardin remembered. Coogler even signed off on some of the writers’ most outrageous concepts, which influenced the final product.

Will There Be a Season 2?

Officially, Eyes of Wakanda remains a one-season affair. It debuted during D23 in August 2024 as an “event series,” and many fans thought that meant it had to be limited. But showrunner Todd Harris explained to SFX in an interview that there are still stories they have to tell.

“There are always more stories,” Harris explained. “We have more in the tank. And it’s Marvel — there’s always more.”

Renewal will most probably be based on the number of viewers and reaction from the fans. With Marvel’s track record of animated shows, there is some optimism to believe. Shows like What If.? and Star Wars: The Bad Batch received multiple seasons and were permitted to complete their narratives.

What Could Season 2 Cover?

Season one traversed through different points in Wakandan history. One of the highlight episodes featured an iteration of Iron Fist, bringing Wakanda’s lore into connection with another Marvel legacy.

A second season might keep establishing untold ages of Wakanda, solidify its connections to other mystical dynasties, and even set up post-Black Panther 2 storylines. This time-tripping format offers writers the ability to create new characters, timelines, and conflicts without being confined to one period. That creates almost limitless storytelling possibilities.

Who Might Be Back?

With each episode occurring in a separate timeline, Season 2 can potentially include an entirely new voice cast. But the fans would probably appreciate the following Season 1 stars returning:

  • Winnie Harlow as Noni
  • Cress Williams as The Lion
  • Jona Xiao as Iron Fist
  • Steve Toussaint as an undercover agent

Casting would change, but voices familiar might come back for continuity or fan demand.

Could Eyes of Wakanda Connect to Black Panther 3?

Here’s a new potential: Eyes of Wakanda could set the stage for Black Panther 3. The series’ plots explore the richer mythology of Wakanda — something the movies barely scratch.

If Season 2 establishes things such as the War Dogs, Vibranium mythos, or ancient legend, it may contribute to setting the scene for what happens in the next film.

Marvel has frequently employed Disney+ shows to build up characters ahead of big-screen comebacks. Loki, WandaVision, and Ms. Marvel all served in that dual purpose. Eyes of Wakanda could do the same.

No Trailer Yet, But Don’t Count It Out

There’s no Season 2 trailer yet. That’s expected, since a renewal hasn’t been confirmed. But given the creators’ passion and Marvel’s deep bench of stories, Eyes of Wakanda still has life beyond its debut season.

For now, all episodes of Eyes of Wakanda are streaming on Disney+, and its future depends on how loudly fans call for more.
